NELLY HOUGH COURSE
FALL 2024 Course registration
is now closed.
Every fall, for over 70 years, AGC has hosted the Nelly Hough Memorial
Gardening Course, which is named in memory of one of Charlottesville's most
renowned and beloved garden designers.
In 1940, Mrs. Hough began an annual
gardening course that started many of our area's finest gardeners on their way. The
course draws its inspiration from Mrs. Hough's work and is designed for participants
of all levels of gardening experience who wish to gain and to share insights into the
rewards and challenges of gardening.
Topics include trees, shrubs, and roses, annual
and perennial flowers that flourish in our area as well as landscape design, pest
management and horticulture. The course runs for five consecutive weeks; each program
is held at a different home or farm in the Charlottesville area. A fee is charged
for the course and all proceeds benefit our Community Projects Fund.
